A Golden-Era Yamaha Classic

Music and business have been the two constants in my life since the 1970s. From performing professionally on keyboards, owning one of the UK's largest music store groups, and managing Red House Computers, I've always had a passion for quality instruments and helping musicians find exceptional guitars.

Today, that passion continues. Every instrument we offer is personally inspected and honestly described.

We are delighted to present this outstanding 1987 Yamaha SA2100 Semi-Hollow Body in its stunning Polished Ebony finish, complete with its original Yamaha hard shell case.

Yamaha SA2100 (1987)

Finish: Polished Ebony
Serial Number: NP14171
Year: 1987
Includes: Original Yamaha Hard Shell Case

Built in Yamaha's highly respected Taiwan factory during one of the company's finest production periods, the SA2100 has earned a legendary reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, outstanding playability, and premium tone—often rivalling, and in many cases surpassing, American-made instruments from the same era.

Condition & Setup

This guitar has been carefully inspected, professionally cleaned, detailed, and is ready to play.

Neck & Fretboard

  • Thoroughly checked and cleaned
  • Fretboard freshly re-oiled
  • Smooth, comfortable playing action
  • Excellent neck condition

Hardware & Electronics

  • Original gold hardware in excellent working order
  • Premium Yamaha machine heads function perfectly
  • Electronics fully tested

Original Bi-Sound System

The sought-after original push-push Bi-Sound tone controls operate exactly as they should, allowing the dual Alnico humbuckers to split into single coils, providing an impressive range of tonal options—from warm jazz tones to bright, articulate single-coil sounds.

Cosmetic Condition

This is an honest, beautifully maintained vintage instrument.

  • Excellent overall presentation
  • Original Polished Ebony finish remains rich and glossy
  • No signs of the cloudy or milky finish often found on guitars of this age
  • Light age-related player wear and small cosmetic marks consistent with careful use over nearly four decades
  • Natural tarnishing to the gold pickup covers, purely cosmetic and adding to its vintage character

Included

  • Original Yamaha Hard Shell Case (supplied with the guitar when new in late 1987)

Our Thoughts

This is a superb example of Yamaha's golden-era craftsmanship—a genuine road warrior approaching 40 years of age that still performs beautifully today.

I personally know the history of this guitar and can confidently say it is a fine instrument, whether you're looking for a professional player's guitar, a collector's piece, or a long-term investment.

Opportunities to purchase original, well-maintained SA2100s like this are becoming increasingly rare.
